"I chose hypnotherapy to help me stop smoking, and it's worked. Approaching my 40th birthday and having been a smoker on and off (mostly on) since my late teens. I really wanted to quit but was also a bit apprehensive. To my surprise, with hypnotherapy, stopping smoking and now being a non-smoker has been really easy, without any of side effects I was expecting (grumpiness, increased appetite etc). Great benefits for me to note are, I feel so much more lively in the mornings, have one less thing to fit into my busy days, and without cigarettes, any hangover I might have after a night out is next to nothing! Hypnotherapy has made becoming a non-smoker so easy, I must admit I feel slightly guilty at my lack of effort and also a bit stupid for having waited so long to do it."
What is Hypnotherapy?
The Hypnotic state is usually described as a state of deep relaxation, somewhere between being awake and asleep. In this relaxed state it becomes much easier to convey positive suggestions to the subconscious mind that will aid in changing negative behaviour and breaking bad habits.
This makes hypnosis one of the (if not the most) most powerful tools for changing our behaviour. Hypnotherapy is very helpful with the psychological thought patterns and the emotional aspects surrounding our issues, as it can reach and work positively on the parts of your mind that other therapies don't. However, it is important to remember that you need to have a strong desire to address your problems. Building Self esteem and self confidence, reducing fears, phobias, stress and anxiety and help to stop smoking or motivate weight loss are among the many issues that can respond effectively and very positively to hypnotherapy.
Hypnotherapists cannot make people do things against their will.
It is an altered state of consciousness, like a day dream or an inwardly focused state that we might be in when playing our favourite sport, playing a musical instrument, painting a picture, reading a book. In other words, we are blocking out other activities that are going on around us and this allows the mind to concentrate fully on the chosen subject. Such as stopping smoking or feeling more self-confident.
Most clients describe the whole process of hypnotherapy as very relaxing.
Is Hypnotherapy safe?
Hypnosis is completely safe. You remain in control the whole time. You will hear everything, remember everything that is said (unless you fall asleep) and find it incredibly soothing, relaxing, and beneficial. You cannot be made to do anything against his or her will. It is not possible for the client to be "stuck" in hypnosis, or to do or say anything he/she does not want to.
Any suggestion made by a hypnotherapist can still be rejected by the client if it were to challenge or threaten their sense of reasoning.
"I found hypnotherapy to be a beautiful experience with lasting effects of self realisation and the tools to access our own inner calm not just during labour but any time we require them. Support comes in many forms during the journey of pregnancy through to motherhood - Isabel was an integral and wonderfully positive part of my journey, thank you Isabel xox."
